Methodology:
This activity will be conducted in small groups to encourage collaboration and discussion. Students will be provided with a variety of print and digital advertisements to analyze. They will use critical thinking skills to identify persuasive strategies, target audience, and the intended message of each advertisement.
Resources/Materials:
- A selection of print and digital advertisements (magazines, newspapers, websites, etc.)
- Computers or tablets with internet access (optional)
- Chart paper or whiteboards
- Markers or whiteboard markers
Instructions:
- Divide the class into small groups of 3-4 students.
- Distribute a variety of print and digital advertisements to each group.
- Explain to the students that they will be analyzing the advertisements to identify persuasive strategies, target audience, and the intended message.
- Encourage students to discuss and brainstorm ideas within their groups.
- Provide each group with chart paper or a whiteboard to record their findings.
- Ask each group to choose one advertisement to present to the class.
- Give students time to analyze the advertisements and prepare their presentations.
- Invite each group to present their chosen advertisement to the class, explaining their analysis and findings.
- Encourage class discussion and reflection on the persuasive strategies used in the advertisements.
Assessment:
Assess students' understanding and analysis of advertisements through the following criteria:
