Instructions:
Step 1: Introduction to Literary Devices (1 class period)
Begin the project by introducing the concept of literary devices to the students. Use examples from popular literature and multimedia resources to engage their interest. Discuss the purpose and impact of literary devices in enhancing the overall meaning and effect of a text.
Step 2: Identifying Literary Devices (2 class periods)
Provide the students with a selection of literary texts and ask them to identify and analyze the different literary devices used. Encourage them to annotate the texts and discuss their findings in small groups. Facilitate a class discussion to share and compare their observations.
Step 3: Creative Writing Activity (4 class periods)
Divide the students into small groups and assign each group a specific literary device to focus on. Instruct them to create a short story or poem that effectively incorporates the assigned device. Encourage creativity and originality in their writing. Provide guidance and support as needed.
Step 4: Peer Feedback and Revision (2 class periods)
Have the groups exchange their written pieces and provide constructive feedback to one another. Emphasize the importance of giving specific and helpful feedback. Instruct the students to revise their work based on the feedback received.
Step 5: Presentation and Reflection (1 class period)
Give each group an opportunity to present their creative writing pieces to the class. Encourage them to explain how they incorporated the assigned literary device and the impact it had on their writing. Facilitate a class discussion on the effectiveness of different devices and their role in storytelling.
