Instructions:

Begin the lesson by asking students what they think the word 'civics' means. Write their responses on chart paper. Explain that civics is all about how people live and work together in a community.
Step 2: Community Helpers (Understand)
Show students picture cards of different community helpers. Discuss each helper and their role in the community. Ask students to share any personal experiences or stories related to community helpers.
Step 3: Craft Activity (Can Do)
Engage students in a craft activity where they create their own community helper puppets or masks. Provide art supplies and encourage them to be creative. As they work on their crafts, discuss the importance of each community helper's role in the community.
