Main Activity - Key Concepts of Civics (30 minutes):
Divide the class into small groups and provide each group with a set of index cards. On each card, write a key concept related to civics, such as democracy, citizenship, voting, or the branches of government. Instruct the groups to discuss and define the concept on their card, and then create a visual representation of it on the back of the card using art supplies. Afterward, have each group present their concept and explanation to the class.
Interactive Discussion (15 minutes):
Lead a class discussion on the importance of civics in our daily lives. Ask students to share examples of how civics affects them personally, such as voting in school elections or following rules and laws. Encourage students to ask questions and engage in the discussion.
Real-Life Application (20 minutes):
Provide each student with a printed handout that contains a real-life scenario related to civics, such as a community issue or a decision-making situation. Instruct students to analyze the scenario and write a short paragraph explaining how they would apply their civics knowledge to address the situation. Allow students to share their responses with the class.
