Instructions:
Step 1: Prewriting
1. Introduce the concept of the writing process to the students, explaining that writers go through several steps to create a polished piece of writing.
2. Discuss the elements of a story (characters, setting, and plot) and provide examples to help students understand.
3. Distribute story planning worksheets and guide students in brainstorming ideas for their own storybooks. Encourage creativity and imagination.
Step 2: Drafting
1. Instruct students to use their story planning worksheets to write the first draft of their stories. Remind them to include the elements of a story discussed earlier.
2. Provide support and guidance as needed, helping students with spelling and sentence structure.
Step 3: Revising
1. Explain the importance of revising and improving their stories. Encourage students to read their drafts aloud and make changes to enhance the clarity and flow of their writing.
2. Encourage peer feedback by pairing students to exchange their drafts and provide constructive suggestions.
Step 4: Editing

2. Provide editing checklists for students to use as a guide while reviewing their own work.
Step 5: Publishing
1. Instruct students to create a final version of their storybooks using blank paper or storybook templates.
2. Provide storybook cover templates for students to decorate and personalize their books.
3. Once the storybooks are complete, allow students to share their creations with the class, either by reading aloud or displaying their books.
Assessment:
To assess students' learning, consider the following:
- Review students' story planning worksheets to ensure they have included the necessary elements of a story.
- Assess the quality of students' first drafts, looking for appropriate use of vocabulary, sentence structure, and story development.
- Observe students during the revising and editing stages, noting their ability to make improvements and correct errors.
- Evaluate the final storybooks for creativity, organization, and overall writing skills.
By the end of this activity, students should have a solid understanding of the writing process and be able to create their own storybooks using the steps taught.
